Texans Lose to Colts in OT

In what was probably the most entertaining game of the terrible season in Houston, the Texans nearly pulled out a victory.  After trailing most of the game the Texans found themselves down 10-17 late in the 4th quarter. Josh Freeman was able to lead his team on a drive late in the game into the Colts side of the field.  However, the Texans found themselves in a 4th down situation and decided to go for it. Freeman found his wideout DeAndre Hopkins for what many thought was a sure first down catch, but Hopkins dropped the ball. After turning it over on downs the Texans D was unable to stop the Colts from picking up two first downs and running the clock down to just 25 seconds.  But then something strange happened. Just as many fans were beginning to prepare to tune out, the Colts missed  an easy field goal. So with 21 seconds left on the clock, the Texans still had a chance. On first down, Freeman threw the ball deep to wideout Andre Johnson only to have it nearly intercepted by the defense. It seemed over. But then on second down Freeman hung in the pocket and threw a deep ball down the left side of the field to Deandre Hopkins for a TD! With just six seconds left on the clock the game was tied.  And then things got even more strange. Instead of kneeling the ball and running out the clock, the Colts elected to throw a pass that was intercepted by CB Kareem Jackson.  With just 0:02 seconds left on the clock the Texans sent kicker Jay Feely out to the field.  Feely lined up and kicked the ball square down the middle of the uprights, “it’s up…and its…NO GOOD!” The ball bounced off of the crossbar.  The game would be settled in overtime.  The Colts received the ball first and drove down the field with relative ease.  They ended the game on a TD run by Trent Richardson, pushing the Colts’ record to 10-4 on the season and dropping the Texans down to 3-11 on the year.  The loss is the first for new head coach Ty Moses. It will be interesting to see if the Texans bounce back from this loss or continue to wallow in pity and self doubt.
