Jay Feely Cut, Hopkins Signed as Replacement Kicker

How Will The New Kid Handle The Pressure

After missing the FG that could have brought the Texans to one of the greatest comeback wins in team history, Kicker Jay Feely was given the pink slip.  Coach Moses didn’t even wait until the team got into the locker room to give Feely the news.  Moses reportedly walked over to Feely at the close of regulation and told him, “You’re done. Thanks for everything.”  Moses told reporters that his decision was swift because he wanted to send a message.  “When you get paid $1.8 million to perform one job, I expect you to do that job well.  And if you can’t? Well, then that means I have to go out and find somebody who will.”  The Texans officially released Feely at 12:44pm EST and signed Dustin Hopkins shortly thereafter.  Hopkins was at home playing Madden when he got the call. Now instead of using the kicking arc, he will have to put his actual leg back to use.  Only time will tell if this was a wise decision by Moses or a brash and bull-headed move.
