The Ruler Is Back!

Walter Moses Jr. Hired as GM of Knicks

In a surprise move by the New York Knicks, Walter Moses Jr. is brought in as the new general manager.  Moses Jr. is the son of legendary football guru Walter Moses Sr. and the older brother of NEFL Houston Texans head coach Ty Moses.  Many were shocked because Moses lacks basketball experience as his previous position was Head Coach of the NEFL2 Baltimore Ravens football team.  Moses was let go by the Ravens in spite of leading the team to a 3-1 record.  Sources close to the Ravens organization have said that the move to release Moses was political and came down from the commissioner.  In an interview with NewAfro insider Tammy Towns, Ravens owner Steve Biscotti made it clear that the move had nothing to do with Moses’ coaching ability.  “My hands are tied. I love Walter. He’s a great coach and an even better man, but this one wasn’t my call,” said Biscotti.   Moses went straight to twitter after he got the news, and Ravens fans were livid.  Initially Moses said that he would take a break from football and perhaps spend more time with the family, but when he got the call from James Dolan he couldn’t refuse.  After Phil Jackson decided to forgo his role with the Knicks due to personal reasons, the franchise had no clear direction.  However, When Owner James Dolan discovered that Walter Moses was unemployed he got the radical idea that perhaps he might be the right man for the job. When we sat down with Walter Moses Jr., he had this to say in response to the doubters of his basketball IQ, “Relax people. I’m the general manager, not the head coach. I’m a strategist and team builder. That’s what I do. Whether it’s football, soccer, basketball or rugby, I can run and manage a team. Heck, make me CEO of a fortune 500, I’m confident I could do that too.” So Walter Moses Jr. is back at the helm of a popular sports franchise, it just so happens to be a different sport and a different position.
